 New Vision at The Royal

 Joanne Bezzubetz, Ph.D.

President and Chief Executive Officer The Royal

Summary

The Royal is one of Canada’s foremost mental health care, teaching and research hospitals.  Its mandate is simple: to help more people living with mental illness into recovery faster.  The Royal combines the delivery of specialized mental health care, advocacy, research and education to transform the lives of people living with complex and treatment-resistant mental illness.  The Royal includes mental health centres in Ottawa and Brockville as well as a variety of telemedicine and community mental health services.

Dr. Bezzubetz’s vision for the future of The Royal is a hospital without walls – an organization of mental health experts working alongside other health care and social service providers throughout the community to provide integrated care that supports a person’s overall well-being.  To achieve this, The Royal is placing a strong focus on community collaboration as well as innovation and research that support access to the best possible care.  All of this will be driven by the needs of and created in partnership with patients and families.
